showing up is simple

Love isn’t grand gestures. Love is showing up.

Not just when it’s needed. Not just when it’s convenient. Just because.

Showing up for loved ones during tough times is simple.

No, it’s not easy. Yes, it’s inconvenient.

And still—it’s simple.

It doesn’t require optimization, extravagance, or perfection.
Sometimes, it’s just sitting beside them.
Sometimes, it’s making coffee.
Sometimes, it’s taking out the trash.
Sometimes, it’s washing the dishes.

It’s unglamorous work. It adds nothing to your résumé. It’s not special.

And yet—it is everything.

why by you?

Because no one else can love them the way you do.

Modern life makes survival without support easy. You can order soup when you’re sick. You can get medication delivered. You don’t need anyone.

So why does it feel so much sweeter when a loved one brings you soup?
Why does it mean more when someone simply sits with you?

Because simple acts of service are how love moves from feeling to action.
They transmute love into reality. They turn affection into connection.

And that’s why it has to be you.

That’s why you pick someone up from the airport instead of calling them an Uber.
That’s why you help clean up instead of hiring a maid.
That’s why your love is the missing ingredient.

my uncle’s funeral

My uncle died last week. Family flew into Houston for the funeral, showing up for my widowed aunt, my cousins, and their immediate family.

But what stood out most?

One cousin’s family arrived a week early. Despite a full work schedule and two kids of his own, her husband spent the entire time serving—fixing things around the house, cooking meals, handling logistics.

No complaints. No expectation of thanks. Just pure, quiet service.

This kind of showing up makes families strong.
This kind of showing up is what makes us family.

the invitation

When you see a loved one in need, ask yourself:

What small act of service can I do to turn my love into action?

Can I bring soup?
Can I give them a call?
Can I just sit with them for an hour?

Because love doesn’t just live in your heart.

It lives in what you do.

So next time a loved one needs you, don’t overthink it. Just show up.
